From January 19 to 28, Kanazawa University welcomed six students from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), one of our partner universities, for a short-term training program focused on Sustainability and SDGs. The students took part in a series of lectures, laboratories visits and meeting professors from the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology and field-based visits to several local companies where they learned about renewable energy, recycling systems and environmentally conscious manufacturing.

Later, the group visited Shiramine village in Hakusan City and learned about sustainability practices and deepened their understanding of the UNESCO Eco Park. Through experiencing daily life in a heavy snowfall region and interacting with local residents, they gained firsthand understanding of the resilience, cooperation, and traditional knowledge that support sustainable living in rural Japan.

1月19日から28日にかけて、本学の大学間交流協定校であるインド工科大学マドラス校（IIT Madras）から学生6名を受け入れ、サステナビリティおよびSDGsをテーマとした短期研修プログラムを実施しました。

期間中、学生らは講義の受講や理工学域の研究室見学、交流会、発表会を行ったほか、再生可能エネルギー、リサイクルシステム、環境配慮型ものづくりについて学ぶため、複数の地元企業を訪問しました。

また、白山市白峰地区を訪れ、持続可能な取り組みについて学ぶとともに、ユネスコエコパークについて理解を深めました。豪雪地帯における地域の日常生活や地域住民との交流を通じて、「レジリエンス」「協働」「伝統的知識」を肌で感じる貴重な機会となりました。
